Overview

The International Conference on AI for Biometrics and Forensics (AIFB 2026) invites proposals for half-day tutorials to be held in conjunction with the main conference (Day 1). The tutorial programme aims to provide participants with in-depth, structured introductions to established and emerging topics in AI-based biometrics, digital forensics, and trustworthy forensic systems.

Tutorials are intended for a broad audience, including researchers, practitioners, industry professionals, tool developers, solution providers, and representatives from law enforcement and forensic laboratories. Proposals that combine theoretical foundations with practical methodologies — including tools, technologies, datasets, hardware platforms, and real-world case studies — are particularly encouraged.

Scope

Tutorial proposals should be relevant to the general scope of AIFB 2026 and may address, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • AI-based methods for biometric recognition and forensic evidence analysis
  • Multimedia, audio, video, and synthetic media forensics
  • Hardware, embedded systems, and device forensics
  • Adversarial AI, robustness, reliability, and validation of forensic systems
  • Forensic data management, analytics, correlation, and reporting
  • Practical forensic tools, platforms, datasets, benchmarks, and equipment
  • Industrial, operational, legal, and policy aspects of deploying forensic AI systems

Tutorial Format

Tutorials should be coherent and educational. Each tutorial will be allocated a total time of 3 hours. As part of the tutorial structure, presentations may cover:

  • Novel, previously published, or work-in-progress research
  • Practical case studies or field reports
  • Tools, platforms, datasets, hardware setups, or operational workflows

All content must be integrated into a unified tutorial programme. Tutorial organisers are responsible for ensuring thematic coherence, appropriate pacing, and educational value of the session.

Submission Guidelines

Tutorial proposals should be submitted as abstract-only proposals and must include the following:

  • Title of the tutorial
  • Names and affiliations of the presenter(s)
  • Abstract (maximum 300 words) describing:
    • Its relevance to the AIFB community
    • Intended audience and expected learning outcomes
    • Any tools, datasets, hardware, or demonstrations to be included
  • (Optional) Links to relevant publications, software, datasets, repositories, or project websites
Note: There will be no formal proceedings for tutorials. Tutorial material may subsequently be submitted to other venues.

Review and Selection

Tutorial proposals will be reviewed by the AIFB 2026 Tutorial Committee based on the following criteria:

  • Relevance to the scope of AIFB 2026
  • Technical quality and clarity of the proposal
  • Educational value and structure
  • Balance between theoretical and applied aspects
  • Expected interest to both academic and industrial audiences
